Itinerary:

Its time for my monthly photohike! Let's go photograph the beautiful cherry trees in High Park! They normally don't blossom until the end of April, but due to the weird weather we've been having, they are early. According to today's reports, about 75% of the trees have bloomed and by this weekend, the trees will be in full bloom. Since High Park gets pretty nuts during the prime weekend of the cherry blossoms in High Park, I'm going to go on Friday after work, in the hours before sunset. That will give us great light to work with, and hopefully the crowds won't be too bad.

In order to participate in this event, you must have a camera. Normally, I'm ok with any camera, but for this event, I'm going to give priority to participants that have a DSLR. When you sign up for the event, please tell me what kind of camera you have in the Notes section. My apologies to those of you who want to come but don't have a DSLR - I will be doing more photohikes in the future without this requirement. You can sign up for this event, but I will move you to the wait list if there are enough DSLR users to fill the event.

DLSR Users: I recommend you bring a tripod and remote shutter release for this event if you have them. You will still be able to get decent shots without them, but we will be working with diminishing daylight over the course of the event, so your shots will be all the better if you have a tripod.

We're going to meet at High Park subway station - please wait at the High Park Ave exit. From there, we'll walk into the park together towards the Cherry Tree areas (there are a couple of them). I do not have a specific route mapped out. We will go to the trees, and we will be stopping frequently. The total distance of this walk will be somewhere around 3-4 km. We will end the event back at High Park subway station just after sunset.

Given the limited time we have before sunset, I will not be waiting for latecomers. If you arrive late, please call my cell phone and I can let you know where we are so you can try and catch up. Because of the popularity of these events, I will award a no-show to anyone who does not show up without removing themselves from the event prior to the Registration Cut-Off. No Exceptions!

Here are my past photohikes for anyone considering this event:
