Complete planning for this trip is on a short hiatus until the 2nd week of May. At that time I will set up a more precise itinerary and list the associated costs. So.far this is the event description: I'm setting up a trip to go to Lake Superior Provincial Park. I'm in the preliminary planning stages so this post is light on details. This will be a fairly casual trip with a few organized side trips off the main lake. I'd like to get a couple of backcountry sites that are accessible by canoe. We will set up camp in the backcountry for a couple nights then move to another site before heading out on the following saturday. So far the plan is to leave Toronto on Sunday Night(august 4) at 6 pm and drive up to make it there for 6 am. I'm thinking to do the Fenton/Treeby loop. /maps/lakesuperior/Fe nton_Treeby_canoe_route.pdf In total its 16kms that can be split up with very few and very short portages. For the adventurous there are an abundance of daily side trips to take. Planned return by early Sunday August 11. It is a 10 hour drive to get there. We will most likely travel in one 12 seater van unless there are other people willing to drive their own vehicle. This trip is for people who have previous overnight canoeing experience that want to try a longer jaunt. Must have been on a trip with me before or have a TOC member in good standing vouch for you. I will be running a few local trips before this one so if you get on one of those it will qualify you for this one. If you sign up and end up on the waiting list, wait it out. Chances are you can still get on the trip as there are possible drop out.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $399.60 (calculated at total Km * $0.222, effective Saturday, May 25, 2019). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

This trip is in the preliminary stages of planning but it will go on rain or shine. All final planning and costs will be worked out in the coming months. Planning will be done by phone and email. A pretrip planning sheet will be sent out to all attendees. failure to complete this excel sheet may result in you being removed from the attendee list. I am open to suggestions on sites and itinerary...for now... I will also be doing a trip to Sleeping Giant so if you have interest in that feel free to contact me.
