Interim COVID-19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
Within the 14 days preceding the event:

You have not travelled outside of Canada;
You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment on- line questionnaire.

You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet-up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.

You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments

You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.

YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.

Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.

If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, I've randomly selected a hike out of my personal urban hiking database.

This 9.5 KM hike will travel between St Clair Station to Broadview Station.
The hike itself was travel past historic sites, like

'Mount Pleasant Cemetery'.

'The original site of the Bayview Ghost'.

'The Don Branch'.

'Don Valley Brick works'.

'The Chester Hill Lookout'.

PACE: We'll aim for a pace of 4-5 km/h

The hike will be on a combination of wide gravel paths, single track trails, paved mutli-use trails, sidewalks and a decommissioned railway track.

In terms of hills, there's a large 50 meter climb near the end of the hike. However, this leads us out to the Chester Hill Lookout, which is my favorite view of the city.

We'll do a washroom stop at the Don Valley Brick Works, so about 6 km/h into the hike.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A SUBWAY CLOSURE BETWEEN ST CLAIR & FINCH STATION THIS WEEKEND

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

St. Clair Subway Station is located on the Yonge/University Subway Line, 3 stops north of Bloor Station.

We'll meet outside the subway entrance located on the SOUTH side St Clair Avenue, which is right beside a McDonalds, just east of Yonge Street.
Probably underneath the tower of 21 St. Clair East. See Picture of Starting location Below.

However, if its wet or cold, then I'll just stand inside the subway entrance.

For those of you driving, there's a Green P parking lot located on Alvin Avenue, just east of Yonge Street and north of St. Clair.
