Itinerary:
If the TOC is a representative sample of Toronto, then this means about about half of us were born in a foreign country. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. It's winter time, so let's get out our brooms and start hurling stones across the ice. Yes, it's curling time!

Historians debate over the origin of this sport. Some say it was invented in Scotland (by the same people who brought you the *other* exciting sport - golf) and others say it was the Flemish who were the first to pick up a stone and chucked it on the ice. Regardless of its start, curling has endeared itself to many Canadians (many of them old and retired).

Details about curling can be read here and here. If you're a foreigner who wants to learn more about Canada or maybe you are a Canadian who wants to learn more about your own culture, come learn how to curl or just go curling at Leaside Curling Club.

We'll recieve all the equipment (you just need to bring clean sneakers) -- sliders and brooms included. There'll be approximately 2 hours of playing time.

As of right now, I've reserved two sheets of ice. If you need/want a lesson, please mark yourself as a BEGINNER. If you already know the rules, please mark yourself as an INTERMEDIATE (even if you aren't any good, I just want to keep track of those that want lessons and those that don't.) If you're Brad Gushue, please put down ADVANCED, and you'll be on my team.

Afterwards we'll engage in another Canadian tradition -- beer.
