Itinerary:

The terrain is rocky, challenging but rewarding, a bit of climbing is involved at the McCrae Lake narrows. Length is approximately 18 km, pace is 4-4.5 km/h. The weather forecast for Sunday is a mix of sun and cloud, highs 13 °.

This hike is suitable for intermediate hikers. It is not suitable for beginners. I would prefer to take members with previous experience on TOC hikes at a similar level, but if you don't have that, feel free to email me with details about your previous hiking background.

Situated between Parry Sound and Barrie on the east coast of Georgian Bay, the McCrae Lake Wilderness Area posses the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield. We'll pass by spectacular views of the lake from atop granite cliffs, windswept white pines, bedrocks, beaver dams and wetlands. Lunch to the sound of rapids at the McCrae Lake narrows.

The event shows a max of 1, so everyone starts off on the wait list, passengers will be added as drivers become available. The number that we actually take is limited by the availability of drivers. Members willing to drive and members with favourable attendance records may get priority on the wait list. Please note that everyone must be willing to meet at the carpool location.
