Cheltenham Badlands, The Devil's Pulpit & Spirit Tree Cidery (20.5 KM) (6/22/2019)

This is my 4th time leading this hike. The terrain is variable, with hilly and rocky sections.

This hike is suitable for intermediate to advanced hikers loop hike totaling 20.5 KM.

Some of the features of the hike will include descending the Devil's Pulpit and checking out the beautiful Cheltenham Badlands.

At the conclusion of the hike, we'll stop at the Spirit Tree for a sip of award-winning-cider or a taste of fresh pastries.

If you cannot walk the entire distance, please do not sign up for this hike.


For those of you choosing to meet at the event location, instead of the carpool, please ensure that you come on time

WARNING: There are no washrooms at the start of this event, however there are two along the way at the 4.5 KM mark & the 15 KM mark.

Required Items to Bring:
  • Water (2L)
  • Lunch/snacks
  • Proper hiking footwear

  • First Aid Kit

  • Bug spray containing DEET or Icaridin to repel ticks

  • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

    Event Location: 16400 Creditview Rd - 43°47'32.5"N 79°58'35.7"W

    Event Directions: Leaving Sheppard West - take the Allen Road south to the 401.

    -Travel west along Highway 401 to Highway 410 (15 KM).

    -Merge with Highway 410 and follow it North for approx. 35 km (NOTE: HWY 410 will eventually turn into HWY 10)

    -Turn Left at the traffic light for King Street, Regional Road #9 and travel for about 4 km.

    -Turn right onto Creditview Road and travel north for about 8 km until the end of the road. At the dead end, you'll find our parking lot.

    WARNING: There are no washrooms at the start point of this event. My best suggestion closest to the hike is the Cheltenham General Store in the town of Cheltenham, located on Creditview Road.

    Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $27.59 (calculated at total Km * $0.209, effective Sunday, June 16, 2019). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

    • I’ve set the maximum event count at 1 as I don’t want to add anyone to the event until I have enough carpool drivers to accommodate passengers.
    • If we are short of drivers, they will get priority on the waiting list.
    • This hike will go ahead rain or shine. If it's raining, please wear appropriate rain gear
    • If you choose to meet at the event, please arrive on time, I will not be waiting for late comers.
