Knotty Hike in High Park: 6km + knot practice (6/14/2018)

Itinerary:

We will hike around the park and at the same time learn and practice a knot or two. We will also discuss which tasks in backpacking, camping and canoeing can require the use of such knots.
The emphasis will be put on easy to tie and easy to remember knots. This time we will discuss knots that you might need right after arrival to a campsite.

While some of the knots may also be used in climbing, we will not discuss their climbing applications..


Required Items to Bring:
  • Hiking shoes
  • Water bottle
  • A piece of your favourite rope (5mm accessory cord works best for practicing knots)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Traveling by subway you get off at High Park Subway station on the Bloor line. Go to High Park Avenue and turn right(south). Cross Bloor Street and meet at FRONT of park by the rocks.

  • Traveling by car going east bound on QEW get off at Lakeshore and turn north on Parkside Drive.
  • Traveling west on QEW/Gardiner get of at Dunn ave and Turn north on Parkside Drive.
  • Follow Parkside to Bloor and turn Left(west) to the next set of lights and turn left into the High Park.
  • There is some parking just inside the park, find a spot and walk back to entrance.
