Itinerary:

Doors Open is an annual series of events, when many sites in Ontario communities open their doors to the general public. We will visit two such sites as part of this urban hike.

We will meet at 10 am on Sunday: the meeting place is the South-East corner of McCowan Rd and Kingston Rd intersection (CliffCrest Plaza / Cathedral Bluffs Rd: Google Maps link). You can take the TTC buses 102 Markham (Warden Station) or 9 Bellamy (Scarborough Centre / Warden Station): The bus stop is called Kingston Rd at Cathedral Bluffs Dr / McCowan Rd.

We'll first visit the Fool's Paradise, the home and studio of the landscape artist Doris McCarthy. You can explore the property's interiors as well as its ground which provides a great view of Lake Ontario along the Scarborough Bluffs.

We'll then walk beside the lakeshore, taking a lunch break at the Guild Park and Gardens. We will end our hike at the F. J. Horgan Water Treatment Plant, where you can tour the Ozone Building, the Standby Power Building, the Pumping Gallery and the West Filter Building.

You can catch the TTC 116 Morningside bus back home. If anyone is interested we can visit the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (875 Morningside Ave) after the hike.

We'll walk around 12 km at 3.5 km/hr. You can walk faster if you want. Rough map of the hike route.
