Albion Falls and Alpacas at Stoney Creek (12 km @ 4 km/hr) (5/6/2017)

Itinerary:

Note: Drivers will get preference on the waiting list. I'll increase the maximum number of participants as we get more drivers.

We'll meet at the Kipling station at 9:00 am, and drive to the Paramount Park in Stoney Creek. You can also meet us at the Park, at 9:55 am.

From the Paramount Park, we'll walk to Albion Falls along the Bruce Trail and the Red Hill Trail. We'll explore some unmarked trails in the King's Forest, and visit the bottom of the falls. This path is not on Google Maps, and can be a little rocky. Wear a suitable pair of shoes!

After returning to the parking spot, we will proceed to A lpacas from Eighth and Mud (232 8th Road East, Stoney Creek, ON). It is a local Alpaca farm, where you can watch the annual shearing as part of Doors Open.


Required Items to Bring:
  • Water
  • Appropriate footwear for rocky path

Carpool passengers:

  • Cash for carpool (around $9 to $10, depending on the number of passengers per car)
  • Post-hike footwear / bag for soiled footwear (to help keep the cars clean)

Meet at carpool, 9:00 am: Kipling Station Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off (the circular structure outside the TTC station), off Aukland Rd at Subway Crescent, off Dundas St. Link to map.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $29.75 (calculated at total Km * $0.201, effective Saturday, November 18, 2017). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:
  • The hike will go in case of light rain (possibly with changed route). It'll be canceled in case of a severe thunderstorm.
  • Dog owners bring their own cars (or find drivers who are willing to let dogs inside their vehicles). The Alpaca farm may not allow dogs inside.
