Itinerary:

This will be Yiuyin's first event as an event coordinator, and she'll be the main organizer. Please direct all questions to her.

Note: Drivers will get preference on the waiting list. We'll increase the maximum number of participants as we get more drivers.

The 660-hectare Short Hills Provincial Park is located on the southern edge of the Niagara Escarpment. A part of the Carolinian forest zone, it is home to several bird species, mammals, trees and a couple of waterfalls.

As part of this hike, we'll traverse (parts of) the following trails in the Short Hills Provincial Park:

  • Black Walnut Trail
  • Terrace Creek Trail
  • Bruce Trail
  • Swayze Falls Trail

We'll also visit the Bruce Trail loop beside Lake Moodie, where we'll be able to see the Morningst ar Mill heritage site and the Decew Falls.

The terrain is hilly but relatively gentle. Length is approximately 18 km, pace will be 3.5 km/h.

  • Hiking shoes
  • Post-hike footwear (only for the carpool passengers: to help keep the cars clean)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Cash for the carpool (only for the carpool passengers; $12-$20 per person, depending on the number of passengers per car)

8:30 am (Meet at Carpool): Kipling Station Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off (the circular structure outside the TTC station), off Aukland Rd at Subway Crescent, off Dundas St (Map). Carpool departure at 8:35 am.

9:55 am (Meet at Event): Wiley Rd parking lot, Short Hills Provincial Park. Coordinates: 43.102223, -79.272244 (Map). Ahead of 2699 Wiley Rd Thorold, ON L0S 1E6.
