Movie description for White God (Fehér isten) Hungarian w/ English subtitles

"Premiering at Cannes to thunderous acclaim, the new film from Hungarian auteur Kornél Mundruczó (Delta, Tender Son: The Frankenstein Project) pushes the director's experimentation with cinematic form to bold new extremes.

What should have been a happy reunion of father and daughter goes sour almost immediately when thirteen-year-old Lili's (Zsófia Psotta) estranged dad takes exception to the girl's beloved canine companion Hagen, and soon abandons him on the outskirts of the city. Though separated, Lili and Hagen maintain an uncanny link as each receives a crash course in society's psychological and physical brutality, until they come together again in the film's stunning climax — a sequence of pure cinematic delirium that must be seen to be believed.

Stunning, moving, and unforgettable, White God is a truly rare breed: a deceptively realist fable delivered with raw, savage energy.

The story of Noah's Ark has rarely been told from the animals' perspective. In this darkly comic, animated account, the assorted fauna reveal their decidedly unholy natures as the water rises." - tiff.net
