FAST HIKE Loop Lawrence Sunnybrook Hoggs H 16km (9/30/2014)

Itinerary:

(For those of you who have done the similar route with me, we will walk through the forested parts first before sunset! Some of you prefer the light.)

This D4 hike will be 16.4 km. We will maintain a FAST pace of at least 6.5+ km/h.

The fine print

  • Please, if you sign up for this hike, ensure that you can walk at least 6.5 km/h for 16 km.
  • THIS IS A FAST HIKE FOR STRONG HIKERS. IT IS NOT A CASUAL STROLL.
  • WE WILL BE WALKING VERY QUICKLY, AND WON'T BE WAITING FOR STRAGGLERS.

OK, now that you`ve read all the warnings, come out for a great workout!

This hike will be along a mix of pavement, gravel and dirt paths, with 1 big hill and a bunch of lesser hills. There may be a few muddy sections.

We'll start and end at Lawrence Subway Station.

Please arrive on time, we will start promptly, and I will turn off my cell once we begin hiking.

This is the route we will take.

  • Start at Lawrence subway station, (S.E. corner of Yonge St & Lawrence Ave)
  • east through various parks to Sunnybrook
  • thru Glendon Campus to Lawrence
  • up the BIG Lawrence hill
  • north thru Wilket Creek Park
  • thru Edwards Gardens
  • banbury to north thru Windfields Park
  • west along side streets to Hoggs Hollow
  • south on Yonge
  • south on side streets and Mt. Pleasant
  • End at Lawrence subway station

  • Good footwear
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Recommended Items to Bring:

  • Water
  • Flashlight or headlight (might be some dark areas after sunset)

    Event Directions:

    We'll meet on the South-East corner of Yonge St and Lawrence Ave, near the 'Locke' branch of the Toronto Public Library across the street from the Lawrence Subway Station Entrance.

    Lawrence Subway Station is located on the Yonge Subway Line, two stops south of Sheppard and 6 Stations north of Bloor.

    Look for me with an ORANGE whistle on my backpack.
