Itinerary:
Update:

Elizabeth has agreed to lead a second group, so I've increased the maximum number attendees to 30. We'll meet at the same place, and leave in two groups of ~15 each. Both the groups will roughly follow the same route, but Elizabeth will not stay late (and therefore, cover only a subset of the sites listed below).

There is a waiting list, but I might add a couple of more people to the list -- preference will be given to those who are willing to stay late. While signing up, please mention in the notes how late in night are you willing to accompany us (10 pm? 1 am? All night?).

Nuit Blanche is an annual all-night arts festival (some pics from 2013). The 2014 festival will showcase 100+ art installations and exhibitions created by local and international artists. We'll cover many of these as part of this hike. Admission is free for all the exhibits.

We will meet at the St. George TTC station at 6:50 PM, and start walking at 7:00 PM. This is a leisurely urban hike: you're free to drop out any time you want (to go home, or to explore the exhibits on your own -- a TTC station will always be close by). I'll be there all night, visiting the following places in the given order (around ~13 km).

Place Art exhibits / installations
The Bata Shoe Museum Sine and Stomata (interactive installations). Last year, the visitors could also explore the regular footwear exhibits at the Museum. Hopefully, it'll be same this year!

Fort York National Historic Site Project Henge, Absolute Space, Bright Bundle, and Melting Point (light installations)

We'll take a short dinner break somewhere (street food / small eatery, not some fancy restaurant!).

Remember, Nuit Blanche is very popular event. There will be a huge crowd, especially during the peak hours (8 pm to 1 am). If you are agoraphobic, stay away!

FAQ

I want to go home by 8:30 pm. Can I come on this hike?
Sure. Like I said, you can drop out any time you want.

Can I drop out if I want to spend more time at an exhibit?
Yes. You can catch up with us at the next attraction (see the table above), or simply abandon the hike.

Why is XYZ exhibit not present in the list above?
I've created this list based on my experience last year, when I ended up visiting a lot of not-so-interesting exhibits, and couldn't spend enough time at the interesting ones. Some exhibits have been omitted because visiting them will increase the overall walking distance.

When/Where will the hike end?
At the Nathan Phillips Square (near Osgode / Queen stations). When? I don't know. It might be 2 am, it might be 3 am, it might be 4 am. Depends on how much time we spend at the various exhibits (which will depend on how interesting they are or how much crowd there is). That's one of the reasons I've given everyone the freedom to drop out whenever/wherever they want (another reason: there will be so much crowd that you'll get separated from the group anyway!)
