Itinerary:
The Long Sault Conservation Area contains hilly, rugged, forest-covered terrain located in the middle of the Oak Ridges Moraine which was formed during the last ice age. I recently completed this hike and would consider the hike itself to be of moderate difficulty but due to the length, it will border on difficult. There are 5 loops, and we will complete them all. We will complete the 3 western loops first, and this will take us back to the parking area where we will enjoy our lunch (there is a picnic table and a large grassy area) and have opportunity to use the facilities. After lunch, we will complete the 2 eastern loops. Since I do like to run hikes that are D3 friendly, should you not be up to the challenge that day, there is an opportunity to skip 1 or both of the final 2 loops to shorten the hike and lessen the challenge. But regardless, you will be required to wait for the rest of the group to return (so perhaps bring a book and something comfortable to sit on).

We will be hiking at approximately 4.5km/hr, and we'll stick together as a group. We can break into slower and faster groups assigning a lead and a sweep, but it will be necessary to wait for everyone to group back together at all trail changes and intersections. So if you are a really fast hiker who doesn't like to wait, this is not the hike for you. The full 18km hike is suitable for intermediate and advanced hikers only. It is not suitable for beginners, unless you choose to skip the final 2 loops.

Dogs are allowed but should you wish to bring one along, you will be required to meet at the event. You must also agree to pick up after your dog and keep him/her leashed at all times.

Members willing to drive may get priority on the hike. If I have too many passengers and not enough drivers, passengers may get moved to the waiting list until a sufficient number of drivers register. As drivers are added, I will add passengers back on the list in the order they initially registered.

NO SHOWS: Anyone dropping out after the registration cutoff will receive an AUTOMATIC NO SHOW - no exceptions. Please respect the people on the waiting list and if you can't attend, remove yourself BEFORE the cutoff time to give others time to adjust their lives and join in. Thanks in advance!
