Itinerary:

The terrain is rocky and challenging, a bit of climbing is involved. Length is 18 km, pace is 4.5 km/h

This hike is suitable for strong intermediate and advanced hikers. It is not suitable for beginners. Hikers coming on this event are expected to have significant D4 level hiking experience. If it isn't obvious from your TOC record that you can do this hike, please, when registering, include some comments in the notes about your hiking background, the trail is poorly blazed and you need to be able to keep up. Preference on the wait list will be given to regular D4 and D5 hikers.

Situated between Parry Sound and Barrie on the east coast of Georgian Bay, the McCrae Lake Wilderness Area posses the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield. This is a challenging but rewarding hike. We'll pass by spectacular views of the lake from atop granite cliffs, windswept white pines, bedrocks, beaver dams and wetlands.

Note that passengers will be added from the wait list as drivers become available

Take the first right once on Georgian Bay Road onto the entrance to Highway 400 South. Turn into the first road on your left and go to the bottom to park.
