Scotsdale Farm & Silver Creek (19 km, 5km/hr) (12/15/2013)

Itinerary:

Terrain: Variable. Mature woods, fields & wetlands. Rocky sections; multiple creek crossings; could run into muddy sections. Length of the hike is 19.0 km, pace is 5 km/h. Bruce Trail Map 13.

Start: Scotsdale Farm | Bennett Heritage Side Trail | Bruce Trail @ 29.4 | Great Esker Side Trail | Bruce Trail till 37.0 (inc. Irwin Quarry) | Lunch | Return via Roberts & Bennett Heritage Side Trail.

This hike is suitable for experienced, intermediate hikers. You are good if you have previous experience of 15 - 20 hikes and can maintain a steady pace of 5 km/hr.

If you don't have a history with the TOC, please include some comments in the notes about your hiking experience.

Those willing to drive (mention # of passengers) and regular hikers will be given preference on the waiting list.

Carpool cost (at the bottom of the page) is the vehicle expense. Its not cost per person. Per person will be much lower depending on the # of vehicles and people involved.

How to Get There:

Event Directions: Leaving Downsview - take the Allen Road south to the 401.

-Travel west along the 401 to Trafalgar Rd. Travel, which is approximately 35 km. Trafalgar Rd is exit #328. Regional Rd #3.

Travel north on Trafalgar for approximately 13 km.

NOTE: At one point, Trafalgar Rd merges with #7. At traffic light, turn left and watch for signs indicating the restart of Trafalgar Rd. Turn off will be on the right.

Travel north on Trafalgar Road north past Hwy 7 for about 2 kms.

LOOK FOR PARK ENTRANCE ON RIGHT - Should have a white sign, pointing the way to the 'Scotsdale Farm Reception Centre.'
