Fall Backpacking in Killarney (9/19/2013)

Itinerary:

We will backpack in beautiful Killarney provincial park on this 3-day trip. With its varied terrain, white quartzite peaks and deep blue lakes, Killarney will be lovely in Fall.

The plan is to drive to the park on Thursday evening and stay in George Lake car campground on Thursday. We will start our trek from Carlyle Lake access point, going up The Crack to our first campsite on Proulx Lake on Friday and Bunny Rabbit Lake on and Saturday night. We have the option of going up to Silver Peak on Saturday after setting up camp.

Participants must be active TOC members and able to demonstrate backpacking or hiking/camping experience.

A pre-meeting for this trip will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Chalkers Pub at 247 Marlee Ave., North York to discuss car pooling arrangements, trip expectation and route, food planning and equipment. This is mandatory if you have not been on a backpacking trip with me before.If you are unable to make the pre- meeting you must contact me to make alternative arrangements or you will be dropped from the trip.

You will carry what you bring, so pack light.

Hiking Boots

Suitable clothing for weather + spare

Whistle

Sleeping Bag

Toiletries + Toilet Paper

Headlamp

Nalgene wide-mouth water bottles or hydration bladder (total capacity should be or exceed 2L)

Cup, Bowl, Eating Utensils

Food - will be discussed at pre-meeting
