The terrain is easy. Total distance is about 10 K. Hiking pace will be 4 to 4.5 kph, but with stops to explore butterfly habitat.

I don't have a cell phone, no texting, so please don't be late.

This is my second event on Sunday to look for monarch butterflies. Last year we saw a tree that looked orange from all the monarch butterflies. Each year the count is different. We don't know how many we will see. I will be reporting what we discover to the Tommy Thompson Conservation staff.

We will take the 4 PM ferry to either Centre Island or Ward's Island. The ferry leaves precisely on time.

Which ferry we take will depend on where people want to eat and when. This only changes the order of our exploration.

We will explore Ward's Island Centre Island, and Hanlan's Point. We'll also check out the wharf just because it's fun.

We will have something to eat; the time and place will be decided by the group. We have three choices to buy food, or people can bring food.

  1. The Rectory Cafe - Ward's Island
  2. The Carousel - Centre Island near Centreville
  3. Mermaid Cafe' - Hanlan's Point
