Butterfly Migration - Union Station to Tommy Thompson Park (8/25/2013)

Itinerary:

The terrain is easy. Total distance is about 13 K. Hiking pace will be 4 to 5 kph, except when exploring the park.

No open-toed shoes as the park staff said there are FIRE ANTS in the park. They also said that long pants are preferable.

I don't have a cell phone, no texting, so please don't be late.

Start from Bay & Front St and follow this route

  1. South on Bay to The Esplanade
  2. East to The Distillery District
  3. South on Cherry St to Cherry Beach
  4. East along the Martin Goodman-Waterfront Trail to Unwin Ave bridge
  5. South on the Marina road to the trail to Tommy Thompson Park
  6. South on Spine Rd to the Marina then follow the west-side nature trail as far as Peninsula D and the pedestrian bridge
  7. Explore the area
  8. Return on the East-side nature trail to the park entrance
  9. Walk a short distance to Commissioner St and the 83 Jones Bus to Donlands Station, or to Queen St to take the Streetcar downtown or to the Beaches.
  10. For those that are interested I am leading a second Butterfly Migration event, following this event, on Centre Island at 3:30 PM, meeting at Queen's Quay Ferry Terminal.

Union Station is on the South-West side of Front St at Bay. We will meet at the South-East corner of Bay & Front St.
