Itinerary:

The terrain is variable, with lots of hills. Length of hike is 28 km for drivers, 30 km for passengers, pace is 5 km/h. Maps 3 and 4.

This hike is suitable for strong intermediate or advanced hikers.Hikers coming on this event are expected to have, preferably, D5 level experience, or minimally, D4 level experience on the hike leader's events . If you don't have a history with the TOC, please include some comments in the notes about your hiking experience.

We'll meet at the parking lot at km 66.2 Map 4 on Quarry Rd, and shuttle to the Short Hills Provincial Park parking lot on Pelham Rd. We'll hike back through Short Hills Provincial Park, Louth and Ball's Falls Conservation Areas, and continue along the crest of the Niagara Escarpment past Cave Springs, with excellent views of the lowlands and Lake Ontario. The trail passes by the Flat Rock Cellars winery, where we'll stop for lunch and optionally sample the wine.

Those willing to drive and regular D5 hikers may be given preference on the waiting list

  • Change of footware for after the hike (as a favour to your driver)
