Itinerary:

The terrain is variable, challenging in places. Length is approximately 25 km, pace is 5 km/h (Bruce Trail map 1, Niagara Glen Trail Guide)

This hike is suitable for strong intermediate or advanced hikers. It is not suitable for beginners. Hikers coming on this event are expected to have D5 level hiking experience and be able to maintain a continuous pace of 5 km/h. If it isn't obvious from your TOC record that you can do this hike, please, when registering, include some comments in the notes to convince me that you can keep up.

We'll meet at Dufferin Islands Nature Area, Niagara Falls, and shuttle to Fireman's Park on the Main Bruce Trail. We'll hike back along the Escarpment to the Southern Terminus of the Bruce Trail at Queenston Heights, follow the River Recreation Trail to the Niagara Glen Nature Reserve in the Great Gorge, explore the paths through pristine Carolinian Forest, pass boulders left behind as thousands of years ago the falls eroded, continue past the raging Whirlpool Rapids, walk by Niagara Falls, and finish at Dufferin Islands.

While much of this hike will go at an invigorating pace, we will slow down to enjoy the unique spots of beauty in the Niagara Glen and Whirlpool Rapids as we approach Niagara Falls.

Members willing to drive and regular D5 hikers will get priority on the wait list.
