Itinerary:

I love walking and I love photography. So let's combine the two and head out on an Urban PhotoHike! Given that its a PhotoHike, you must bring a camera on this hike.

We'll leave from Bathurst Subway Station at 3:00 PM sharp. Along the route, we'll pass by interesting urban photographic spots like Honest Ed's, the Annex, Kensington Market, Chinatown, the AGO, OCAD, Nathan Phillips Square and Yonge-Dundas Square, which is where we'll end the hike. We'll be walking during the 'golden hours', the two hours before sunset which give a photographer some of the best light possible to work with. Click here for a general map view of the route - we will deviate slightly from this as photographic opportunities arise.

This is going to be a SLOW hike. The purpose of this hike is to see the city through a photographic lens, and that may mean stopping frequently along the route. Do not come on this hike if you are looking for a workout. The total distance of this hike is approximately 5 km, and I plan to take about 2 hours to cover the route. The hike will go forward in all but extreme weather (i.e. a thundershower, blizzard, etc.). The hike will take place entirely on paved surfaces.

The hike is open to anyone with a camera, of all skill levels. It doesn't matter if your camera is a basic point and shoot or an expensive DSLR, you are welcome on this hike. But you must bring a camera! Along the hike, I will encourage everyone to share their ideas/thoughts/skills with everyone else on what they are seeing and shooting. Everyone's photographic eye is different and everyone can learn from everyone else. If the weather is good, I will bring a tripod which others can use or experiment with if they like.

After the event, if everyone wants to send me their best 2-3 photos, I can post them on the TOC for others to see.

If this event goes well, I hope for it to become a monthly or bimonthly recurring event exploring different photographically interesting areas of Toronto.
