X-C Ski/Snowshoe Weekend at Kawartha Nordic (3/3/2012)

Itinerary:

Join us for a weekend of cross-country skiing or showshoeing at Kawartha Nordic, north of Peterborough. Kawartha has 34 km of classic trails and 13.5 km of skating trails, plus 10 km of snowshoeing trails.

Weekend itinerary:

  • We will drive up to the Kawarthas early on Saturday morning and will ski all day on Saturday
  • After skiing, we'll drive back to Lakefield, and on Saturday night, we'll stay at The Village Inn
  • We'll ski again at Kawartha Nordic on Sunday, and then we'll head back to Toronto late afternoon, getting back to the Downsview around 6pm or so

Accommodation:

  • Each room at The Village Inn contains 2 queen-size beds, so will be shared - please indicate in the notes if you want to share with another member who has also signed up.
  • Continental breakfast is included in the room rate but you may want to supplement this with cheese, yoghurt, etc.
  • The rooms include a fridge and coffee maker, amongst other amenities. You can bring stuff to make your own lunch on Sunday, or buy something at the ski centre.
  • We'll find dinner locally on Saturday night - the Thirsty Loon pub at the hotel is highly recommended.

NOTES:

  • Ski rentals can be made at MEC - they have a very competitive weekend rate
  • There are NO rentals available at Kawartha Nordic
  • Rooms will be pre-booked for only those people who have paid by the registration deadline.
  • If you have any questions about the Lakefield area, then Joseph at the Village Inn has asked that you email him and he'll help you out

Required Items to Bring:
  • Skis, boots and poles
  • Gloves and hat
  • Water each day
  • Lunch and/or snacks each day
  • Change of clothes for Saturday night
  • Personal toiletries
  • Pyjamas - accommodation is in shared rooms!
  • Cash for carpool

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $110.94 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Thursday, May 2, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:

- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the TOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with full refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where TOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refund of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in TOC events.

  • 3% TOC transfer fee: $1.60

Price is based on two people sharing each room.

Cost does NOT include:

  • Ski pass for 2 days ($15/day for skiing, $7/day for showshoeing)
  • Ski rentals if required (not available at the ski centre)
  • Meals
  • Carpool costs
