Hike to Wychwood Barns Farmer's Market (7.5 KM) (12/10/2011)

This is a bit last minute, but I'd like to visit the Wychwood Farmer's Market on Saturday and figured I'd get a group together and go for a hike first. We'll hike about 6.5 KM to the Market and stay at the market for about 30-45 minutes before walking one final KM back to the subway.

The Wychwood Barns Farmer's Market is organized by The Stop Community Food Centre, and is hosted inside the Wychwood Barns, which is a former TTC streetcar maintenance facility that has been converted into a community centre.

Click here to see a list of vendors at the Farmer's Market. For those familiar with the Brickworks Farmer's Market, you will find Wychwood to be very similar.

We'll leave from Eglinton West Subway Station at 9:00 AM sharp. Here is a full description of the route. Click here for a map view.

South on Everden Road to Cedarvale Park.
Follow the Cedervale Park trail all the way to St. Clair West and Bathurst.
South through Sir Winston Churchill Park and Roycroft Park to Davenport Road.
West on Davenport to the Casa Loma staircase.
Climb the Casa Loma staircase. ATTENTION: This is a big stair climb, 110 steps to be exact.
West through the local neighbourhoods, past Bathurst, to the Wychwood Barns where we'll taken in the market.
North to St. Clair West and east to St. Clair West subway station.

We'll hike at a leisurely pace, somewhere between 4-5 km/hr. The total distance of this hike is approximately 7.5 km. The hike will go forward rain or shine, however, if there is a risk of thundershowers, I will cancel the event.

Eglinton West Subway Station is located on both the Yonge/University/Spadina Subway line. We will meet just inside the station entrance. NOTE: Please make sure you come to Eglinton West and not Eglinton station.
