Itinerary:

OVERVIEW

Winter at the Wolfden has become a yearly tradition with the TOC, and it has always been one of my favourites. Wolf Den is a hostel on the outskirts of Algonquin park and beautifully appointed with a large shared kitchen and communal areas.

The place will be entirely ours for the weekend; we've booked the whole thing.

DATE, TIME, AND COST

We'll travel up Friday afternoon/evening and return on Sunday. As always, we'll try to sort out a carpool that will accomodate people's individual schedules. Please remember however, that the official leaving time is 6pm on Friday.

The per person cost for the weekend's accomodation works out to approximately $68.75. This cost is due up front by paying the TOC's Treasurer. Payment must be received by December 12th.

If you're participating in the carpool, expect an additional cost on top of that for transportation. This I'll collect at the event and distribute to the drivers.

ACCOMODATIONS

There are several rooms available both in the main lodge and in the satellite cabins. Expect to share a room with 2-3 others (I'll try my match-making best to meet preference and find people who will match schedules, though some specifics will likely end up first come, first served.)

There are three private rooms with double beds. Any two people who wish to take advantage of these may request them from us: the first to request AND PAY, will get these. (A simple email letting Andrew F. know the Treasurer has been paid for both of you is sufficient to secure the spot.)

Communal bathrooms and showers are available in the main lodge.

Bedding and towels are provided.

ACTIVITIES

While there are skiing and hiking trails within a short walk of the Wolfden (not to mention a great waterfall) we're right on Algonquin's doorstep!

With this many people, there will be multiple groups heading out both days: if you're interested in skiing, snowshoeing or hiking, you're likely to find likeminded members to head out with.

If you need equipment, the Wolfden is right beside Algonqu in Outfitters.

In the evenings expect a social atmosphere upstairs in the loft talking or playing games.

Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention the available sauna :)

FOOD

The Wolfden has a large, fully equiped kitchen available for our use.

Saturday evening we'll organize an (optional) potluck dinner which I've always found to be a great experience.

Beyond that, meal planning will be up to each of you. (Though you may wish to look for like minded people on the trip or in your carpool. We can help here.)
