WELCOME TO THE TOC!

Hey new members! The TOC is a fantastic club so come and find out what it's all about on this welcome hike. We will go for a 8km urban hike from Yonge + Summerhill to downtown, using bike paths and staying off the roads as much as possible. During the hike, you will have an opportunity to learn about the club and ask about all the different events. Afterwards we will drop in to a local pub downtown and try out some local craft beers as part of Toronto Beer Week.

Proper hiking shoes are required for this hike.

PRIORITY FOR NEW MEMBERS: Members with 0-3 total events will get first option for available spots. Those with 4 or more events may be moved to the wait list to accommodate new people, and may be added to the event if spots become available a few days before the event.

DIFFICULTY RATING: This event is rated D2. I will bring my GPS for those wondering how fast they hike. Click here for a guide to TOC Difficulty Ratings

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE CLUB

You have joined an amazing club where you will have the opportunity to meet great people, learn new skills and have a lot of fun. We will go over a lot of info on the hike, but first here are here are some quick tips on how to get the most out of your membership:

REGISTRATION: Volunteers put a lot of work into events. Respect their time and only sign up for those you are 100% sure you can attend. If your plans change please remember to remove yourself ASAP.

CUTOFF DATES/TIMES: These designed to get as many people out on events as possible so please respect the waiting list and sort out your plans well in advance. Once the cutoff has passed you must email the volunteer coordinator directly.

NOTE ON NO SHOWS: Club policy is that members who cancel for whatever reason within 24 hours of an event or don’t show up may receive a No Show (Yes, even if it’s raining! Check the weather forecast in advance). No Shows stick around on your file for a year. After two No Shows you will receive last priority on any events, so even if you are on an event you may be moved over to the waiting list to make room for other members.

THANK YOUR VOLUNTEER :-) Remember that TOC is run by volunteers who put in a load of hours before + after an event and behind the scenes. So please read the full event listing, show up on time, with the right gear and a great attitude and we'll love having you out with us. We all just want to get outdoors and have some fun safely. For further information check the TOC Etiquette and TOC Rules
