Itinerary:

KENNISIS RIVER - GOOD FRIDAY HIKE

There are some terrific hiking trails in the Halibuton Highlands, just south of Algonquin Park. Time permitting, we will hike the Circuits of Five Lookouts trail, the Crests of Kennisis trail, and the Log Chute trail along the Kennisis River. Trails will be muddy and depending on the weather we may have a couple of streams to cross so be prepared to get your feet wet! We will be hiking at 4 km/hr.

Dogs are welcome and must be on a leash on the trails.

DESCRIPTION: The Circuit of 5 Viewpoints is a challenging traverse from the moment you leave the trailhead. Hikers ascend a gentle rise along the stony backbone of a classic Canadian Shield ridge, a route designed for both scenic value and minimal environmental impact. Along the way you will pass under a canopy of maple, ash, ironwood, cherry, white pine and hemlock.

The Crests of Kennisis trail begins by crossing over the Hawk Lake Dam and climbing atop the river gorge as the name suggests, this trail follows a towering ridgeline, providing stunning cliff top views of Kennisis River along the way.
