PETROGLPHS PROVINCIAL PARK "Deep within a forest northeast of Peterborough is the largest known concentration of aboriginal rock carvings in Canada. Carved into the white marble rock face hundreds of years ago, the 900 petroglyphs depict turtles, snakes, birds, humans and other images. Hiking trails meander through surrounding forests, wetlands and rocky ridges." After arriving at the Park we will view the petroglyphs and then time permitting, we will spend the afternoon hiking the High Falls Trail, which is 16 km there and back. Depending on the weather we may have a couple of streams to cross so be prepared to get your feet wet! We will be hiking at 4 - 4.5km/hr. DOGS: Dogs are not allowed in the visitor centre and must be on a leash on the trails. Photo source Flickr.com by Luke Stempien | |||||||
