Itinerary:

SKATE THE COLONEL SAM SMITH ICE TRAIL

The ice trail is a one-of-a-kind outdoor skating rink built in a figure-eight shape and covers 250 metres of pure winter fun. It winds through the park, offering wonderful lakeside views and is the most picturesque of Toronto's skating areas. (For more info read these stories from the National Post or Toronto Life).
No rentals - you must have skates to attend

PROJECT X: Great Lakes Brewery is one of Toronto's original (and still independent) craft breweries. Once a month it hosts Project X, where you can meet the brew masters and try out some new brews they are working on. Events are catered by different local restaurants.

THE PLAN
We'll meet at 5:30pm in the changing area and skate until 7pm. The rink is artificial so even if it warms up we will still have ice!
After our skate we will walk up to Great Lakes Brewery to try some experimental cask ale and have some food. (Cask-conditioned ale is beer that is brewed from traditional ingredients and matured in the cask from which it is served. It is fresh, unpasturized, unfiltered and full of flavour.)
TTC: Take 44 bus directly from Kipling TTC station or pick it up at Kipling and Lakeshore via the 501 or 508 Lakeshore street cars.
Click here for a bus schedule.
GO TRANSIT: Mimico station is also close by.

Please don't drink + drive

COST: Admission for skating is free, no rentals or lockers though.
Admission for Great Lakes Project X is $20, which includes:
a one time $10 fee to become a member of Project X (includes a t-shirt - woohoo!)
$10 for food and beer samples

WEATHER: Personally I love winter + would be thrilled if it continued right through to the long weekend in May... *But* if March is mild and the skating rink is closed then we will start with an urban hike from Old Mill TTC station down to Lake Ontario at Humber Bay and from there go up to the brewery. If it is pouring we will meet directly at the brewery.

REGISTRATION CUTOFF: Please note the registration cutoff is a day before the event.
