Itinerary:
We will be riding from near the heart of Lakeshore Village (also known as New Toronto or South Etobicoke) to Hamilton Beach and back, for a total distance of about 108 km. The ride will be at an average speed of about 23 km/hr. I did this ride by myself a few weeks ago, and it was quite enjoyable. It includes some on-road riding, and some waterfront trail riding. If you sign up, be sure that you can ride the distance at the speed designated.

When we get to Hamilton Beach, we will have lunch on a patio with great views of Lake Ontario.

We will meet in the "Green P" parking lot on Ninth Street, one block north of Lakeshore Avenue West. The nearest major intersection is Lakeshore Avenue West and Islington.

If coming by subway, take the Bloor Line subway west to Royal York; ride your bike south on Royal York until you get to Lakeshore Avenue West; turn right (or west) on Lakeshore Avenue West and ride for a few blocks in a westerly direction until you get to Ninth Street; turn north on Ninth Street and meet in the "Green P" Parking lot on the east side of the street.

In order to participate in the ride, you must have experience riding on city streets, alongside automobiles and other types of traffic, and you must at all times ride with consideration of your own safety, the safety of other riders, the safety of pedestrians and all other members of the public whom we may encounter.

Required Items to Bring:
Well-maintained bike and bike helmet (mandatory); bike lock; one spare tire tube, two tire levers, and air pump (in case of a flat tire); a bike bell or horn; suitable clothing for riding--layers of synthetics are good as you can always add or remove a layer; wind-breaker or raincoat; bike gloves.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Strongly recommended: Front and rear bike lights and a fluorescent vest, so that you will be visible while riding in traffic.
