Itinerary:

Alright team:

So, it's Saturday, 18C and Sunny and we're out by Grimsby hiking along the escarpment hoping to catch some pretty views of Lake Ontario. (Are you picturing this yet? Go ahead and start, I'll wait.)

Question: Andrew, aren't there already two D3 hikes today?

Err.. really?

I think you read too much. None the less, this one has an escarpment.

We're (I'm?) planning a gentle 12km route and will aim for a polite (the hat doffing sort of polite) 3.5kph pace. So the actual hiking part may be 4 hours-ish including some stops to admire the view.

This should be an ideal hike for new members to hiking (or the club) just looking to get their feet wet. We can have commitment issues together! Or we can try it out -- you know, and see how it goes. No promises.

Question: Andrew, how fast is 3.5kph?

Without resorting to giving you an answer in MPH? Picture yourself walking purposefully for 4 hours -- you're Jane Doe and have got somewhere you need to be and walk like it, but aren't late. That's your pace. Occasionally you'll pause briefly to take pictures or grouse about your hike leader. Does this image give you heart palpitations? Have you reached for an inhaler? (Injecting adrenaline into your heart as you read?) If you feel game for that pace, you should be fine.

Please note above that we'll be meeting at the carpool at 9am. 10:15am is the approximate start of the event. Don't come to Downsview for the latter time :)
