Itinerary:
Enjoy the magic of Winter at Silent Lake Provincial Park. We will be snowshoeing around the park (there are also XC ski trails)

There are no on-site rentals available, so you need to bring your own equipment.

The Yurt has two bunk beds each include a single (upper level) and double mattress (lower level), four of us will need to share mattress.

Heating is by a wood burning stove. This is the main reason we are traveling Saturday, to have the entire day to warm-up the Yurt

We will have communal breakfasts and dinners (we will determinate menu and volunteers in the pre-trip meeting). Each person will be responsible for preparing / packing their own Lunches.

Monday: You need to take monday off from work (we are coming back Monday 21st at 2:00pm). Please do not sign-up if you can not take monday off. Partial attendance / early departure will NOT be allowed.

Pre-trip meeting: We will have a MANDATORY pre-trip meeting Monday Dec 7th at Chalkers 7:00pm, to discuss carpooling, equipment, food, etc. Failure to attend will result in your immediate removal from the event (no refund will be granted).

Cold It is winter, outside temperature could reach -30C or below. Be prepared. We have heat by wood stove inside the Yurt, but it get colds too. Last year water inside the Yurt was frozen overnight.

Snow conditions Coordinator cannot control snow conditions. This event will run regardless of the snow level. If we do not have enought snow we will just hike around.


Required Items to Bring:
  • Sleeping bags at least -15C
  • Sleep pad (to isolate from the cold mattress)
  • Flash light
  • Other camping gear to be determined at Dec 7th pre-trip meeting
  • Appropiate winter clothes (NOT COTTON)
  • Snowshoes
  • Cash for carpooling and other costs

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $110.94 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Friday, May 10, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:

- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the TOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with full refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where TOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refund of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in TOC events.
