Itinerary:
We will leave by bike early on Saturday morning, at 8:00 a.m., from the St. George Subway Station for a two-day, fully-loaded bike tour. On Saturday, we will ride from Toronto to the Brant Conservation Area near Brantford, where we will camp for the night, and on Sunday we will ride back to Toronto. Each day, part of our ride will be along the waterfront trail from Toronto to Hamilton, and part of our ride will be along the rail-trail between Hamilton and Brantford.

The ride will be at least 125 km on Saturday and 125 km on Sunday. There will not be too many hills to ascend and descend. You must be in excellent riding condition, and have a bike properly equipped for loaded bike touring (with racks and pannier bags), in order to participate in this event. On your bike you will be carrying a tent, a sleeping bag, a thermarest, clothing, cooking utensils, a small camping stove, etc.

Note: The event organizer retains the discretion to remove people from the event if, in his judgment, they are not prepared for an event of this nature.

The objective is to do a fully self-supported, demanding two-day bike tour, carrying all that you will need with you on your bicycle. A ride of this nature requires advance training and planning. It is not an easy thing to ride a fully-loaded bike for long distances. Therefore, if you sign up for this ride, you should also be prepared to sign up for other single-day or weekend rides earlier in the season, to get yourself into tip-top shape. If you sign up, be prepared to persuade the event organizer that you are fully qualified for the event. Signing up alone is not sufficient. On an event of this kind, one cannot have any stragglers or inexperienced riders, since the ride is long and challenging.

Required Items to Bring:
Well-maintained bike suited to bike touring (capable of carrying at least 2 pannier bags in the rear, but ideally as many as 4 pannier bags--2 in the front and 2 in the rear); bicycle repair kit with at least one spare tire tube and a tire pump, and the tools needed to change a tire; sun-block; water and bottles for carrying water while riding; snacks for the ride; small tent; sleeping bag; cooking equipment; food for Saturday night and Sunday morning as well as snacks for consumption during the ride; bike lights and fluorescent riding vest; rain-gear; change of clothes and toiletries.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:South-West of Toronto.

Notes:
Before the weekend of the event, there will be a mandatory organizational meeting on a date to be announced to plan out the communal meals and to ensure that everyone has the equipment needed for the event.

When you sign up for this event, please provide me with information regarding your experience with bike touring, including specifics regarding the kinds of rides you have done. Also please tell me if you are willing/able to assist with preparing the communal supper on Saturday evening or the communal breakfast on Sunday morning. It would also be helpful if you could describe the bike you intend to use for this event, and whether or not it is suited for bike touring.
