Itinerary:
A short and relaxed trip into Frontenac Provincial Park. A taste of this park’s beauty, a different flavour from Algonquin!

Friday night we set up and stay at a car camping site at Frontenac Outfitters (group sites 1&2,) just 2km from the park office and just under 7km from our entry point. Up early on Saturday we’ll first check into the trail centre and then make our way to Mitchell Creek at Bedford Rd where our canoes will be waiting for us (delivered by and rented from Frontenac Outfitters). We will leave our cars either at the bridge on the township road or across the street at Snug Harbour for a nominal fee. It is a short 45 minute canoe down Mitchell Creek to our campsites (7b&7c) on Birch Lake. We’ll set up, have lunch and depending on the day jump back in our canoes for some exploration, or hike to some nearby points of interest including the old Birch Lake Mine and 3 old homesteads. Sunday up early for a quick breakfast and off to do either more canoeing or hiking. We have to have the canoes back by 5pm so we’ll have to be packed up and gone by 3:30. We’ll have a meal somewhere in the area before we take off back to Toronto.

Participants must have SOME canoe experience please.

The pre-meeting for this trip will be mandatory: July 10th, 7pm at Chalkers Pub.
