FAMILY DAY: Doris McCarthy Trail & Guild Park Gardens (12 KM) (2/20/2023)

Itinerary:

So, its Family Day today and I want to try something different for today's hike.
This is my first time leading a hike in this area, so if I screw up, well I'll learn for future years.

This 12 KM hike will both start and finish at Guildwood GO Station.

The hike will be on a combination of sidewalks, single track dirt trails, paved park paths, gravel trails and sandy beaches.

In terms of hills, since I've never been here before, I don't know the exact number.
However, I know that there is a long 100 meter climb off the beach as I need to make you suffer somehow.

I'll attempt to stop for a washroom break at the Guild Park Gardens, located around the 10 KM mark in the hike.
Guidlwood Station also has washrooms.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.
You can find the pair I use, 'here from Amazon'.

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

Guildwood GO Station is located on the Lakeshore East GO Line.
We'll meet at the north/main entrance to the station
(Look for me in the BLUE Toronto Outdoor Club shirt)

You have a couple options to arrive at the station via Transit.
---Take the Lakeshore East GO train 4 stations from Union to Guildwood GO Station
---Take the 86A or 86D Scarborough Bus from Kennedy Station and exit at Celeste Drive/Guildwood GO Station
---Take the 905B Eglinton East Express from Kennedy Station and exit at Celeste Drive/Guildwood GO Station

For those of you driving, Guildwood Go Station is located at 4105 Kingston Road.

Guildwood Station parking is free on weekends/holidays.
