    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment on-line questionnaire.

  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation as we keep each other safe during the pandemic.

Please note that I have set the Maximum Group Size to 1 so all registrants automatically go to the waiting list.
Members on the waiting list who have confirmed in the NOTES section that they meet all the Conditions and will comply
with all the new Rules specified in the above Directive may then be added to the event, up to a maximum of 8 participants.

If you have not backpacked because of the restrictions, and are afraid of losing your backpacking skills, this event is for you!

While we can't drive out of the city or stay overnight, we can still practice most activities encountered while backpacking.

Grab any combination of: big boots, a big backpack, a sleeping bag, a tent, a stove, cookware, water, lunch ingredients, and show up at the meeting spot. You may show up dressed for a regular hike, but don't be surprised if the pace turns out to be painfully slow for you! Tip: if your backpack feels too light, add more water bottles!

We will hike about 3km north on Old Mill Trail and stop in the spacious valley near Lambton Arena. There, in a socially distanced manner, we can practice activities like:

  • setting up the tent (without help of others),
  • getting into your sleeping bag,
  • setting up a clothes line,
  • cooking your own lunch (there is no water source, you must bring all necessary water),
  • making tea, cocoa, or coffee (no food-,beverage-,or snack-sharing is allowed!).

After about an hour-long break we will head back on the other bank of Humber river.
