Today, 7 members participated in a 16km+ hike starting and ending at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station. On our journey, we traversed everything from busy thoroughfares, to residential neighbourhoods, to nature trails that made it seem like we were nowhere near the GTA. We enjoyed a number of animal surprises, including: a pair of pheasants; a pair of gentle, beautifully groomed draught horses; a flurry of swallows using a corner evergreen in the city as a safe haven; a lovely German shepherd/Labrador mix dog; and a little black kitty with glowing, amber eyes. Speaking of the colour amber, we engaged in a debate on the exact colour of our "yellow" school buses while we stopped for a short break at Black Creek Pioneer Village. 5 of us returned all the way back to VMC subway, and 2 of us chose to take advantage of the busy thoroughfare return to depart from 407 subway station, rather than drudge back up Jane St. again for the last leg. The weather was kind to us, and much appreciated.
