The event title for this event is misleading. Mel, Ernest and I went for a bike ride on Saturday, but because it was just the three of us, and we were running late, we decided to do the Cambridge to Paris ride rather than the ride on the Saugeen Rail Trail, which would have required two to three more hours of driving in the car.

The first challenge of the day occurred when Mel and Ernest arrived at my place, and Mel's handle-bars were in need of repair. (They twirled around and around at the top of her bike without at all showing any relationship to the position of her front tire.)Recognizing the need for some repair work, we decided to take the Don Valley to Skiis and Biikes, on Don Valley Road, to see if we could get a quick repair job done before our drive to Cambridge. Sure enough, the service at Skiis and Biikes was first-rate. Even though we had not called in advance, they fixed Mel's handle-bars within 15 minutes, and did not even charge her for the labour.

It was perfect weather for cycling. Ernest and I wanted to cycle a bit faster than Mel, who wished to "smell the flowers" and enjoy the scenery. Ernest and I would speed ahead and then, periodically, turn around and ride back to where Mel was. This worked very well.

Once in Paris, we headed to the Cafe Du Paris, where we had lunch while overlooking the Grand River.

We made it back into Toronto by about 8 p.m. We were all somewhat tired from the day's exertions. Needless to say, with Ernest and Mel in the car, the conversation both to and from Cambridge was very "stimulating", to say the least ;)
