Write Up:

Four of us met at Old Mill Station and one person went directly to the Lambton Yards. With just a few people we walked at a steady 5.5 kph pace. We arrived with lots of time to spare and some of us joined in the Scout's Christmas Carol singing. A couple people went into Walmart to get warm. When they returned they shared "peanuts in the shell", a nice treat.

This is a foodbank fundraiser and there were bins to place the food donations and people to take cash donations. Hot chocolate was provided and was most welcomed as it was cold standing around. There were a couple of fire trucks, police cars, two police on horseback and paramedics, all doing demonstrations and providing information to the public. There were several TV crews filming and a very tall crane had bright lights and a camera at the top.

It was very exciting when the train came into sight. It went by, and then reversed back on a closer side track. The train decorations were bright and colourful. A large door in the side of one of the cars drops down and becomes a stage. There was a concert performed by Kelly Prescott and Devlin Cuddy and an awesome band. They did old favourites and some of their own tunes.

A representative from CPR gave a short talk and said in the past they've raised over 10 Million dollars and almost 4 Million pounds of food for local food banks. Sarah Doucette, a City of Toronto Councillor representing the City of Toronto, gave a cheque for $15,000.

This was a very interesting and fun event, especially for the first time.

No TOC donations were collected as we brought donations for the food bank.
