This was the fifth climbing event I have hosted so far, and it was definitely my favorite. Especially because it game me a chance to climb with my sister Candida for the first time, who had never attended a TOC event before.
The turn out was the biggest I’ve had so far, perhaps because it took place on the weekend. Unfortunately, Joe Rockhead’s misread the lesson booking, and failed to provide a 2nd instructor, as they should have. Yan, the instructor was very apologetic, he did his best, and the feedback I got generally was that he did a good job despite.
Marco and Carol were the only experienced climbers, so they partnered off with each other and other climbers at the gym. The training wall was pretty crowded after the lesson, but off went the beginners to test the limits of their strength, and for some, their fear of heights. This is the part I love the most: when people come down from their first climbs, and they look back up, and they are thrilled about what they have just done. I saw a lot of that this weekend. By the end of the day, almost everyone was climbing much higher then they were when they first started.
At around 7pm, Bilal, my sister and her friends (Frank, Jenn & Bessie) went to eat, enjoyed the pictures we took, took even more pictures, and Bilal showed off even more pictures he had from previous events.
As I told some of you already, My climbing partner and I go climbing twice per week. Let me know if ever you want to come along. Also, there is a small group of TOC climbers who email each other when we need a partner; let me know if you would like me to add your email to that group. And finally, if your on face book, you may want to join our Rockhead's climbers group.
I am so grateful to all that attended because you were such a great group. You guys make the club as amazing as it is, and make all the efforts worth it.
