Event Coordinator(s): Jim O
Participants:Jim O, Samster, Linda D

Write Up:
Linda D, Parry, and I went on this ride and had a most enjoyable time. The idea was to stretch the Cambridge to Paris ride, which has been done previously by the TOC, into a Cambridge to Brantford ride. As it turns out, Cambridge to Brantford and back amounts to about 75 km.

Both Linda D and Parry had never been on a rail-trail ride before. While I think they both found the ride challenging distance-wise, they both surprised themselves, I think, and enjoyed being out on the trail. I was impressed by their energy and enthusiasm. The trail was quite free of pedestrian traffic and cyclists, so we were able to cycle without too much interference.

We made it to downtown Brantford by about 2:45 p.m., and lunched at the William's Pub on West Street. I simply devoured a mango smoothie while there, and it seemed to re-fresh me for the ride back to Cambridge.

Not wanting to over-do things on his first lengthy ride, Parry decided to hang back in Brantford while Linda D and I returned to Cambridge. Linda D and I made it back to Cambridge in about 1.7 hours, which means that we were practically flying. Linda D confided in me that she had been expecting to go no further than about 20 km, but she actually completed a ride of 75 km! Way to go, Linda D. Now that you know your true capabilities, I expect you'll sign up for some of the other rides as well, right?

After getting back to Cambridge and loading up the bikes, we returned to Brantford by car and picked up Parry and his bike, and then headed back to Toronto.
