There were 32 people on our hike today to see the salmon run. It was supposed to rain and the Toronto Region Conservation Authority said salmon are more active when it rains. Unfortunately it didn't rain and we didn't see any salmon jumping.

Along the trail we chatted with a man at one of the dams. He saw one salmon trying to jump up over the dam for 20 min but it was unsuccessful. We found this salmon resting in a shallow pool at the edge of the river.

Early in the morning, 6-7 AM is the best time to see salmon. At that time this morning it was raining and the salmon were running. Once the rain stopped and the sky brightened, most of the salmon remained at the mouth of the River, (but that wasn't where we were).

Along the trail a little boy showed us a baby snapping turtle he had found. He was examining it and told us he was going to release it.

We also saw mallard ducks and cormorants. It was a pleasant hike even though the salmon didn't cooperate.

After the hike 14 of us went to lunch at the Henry the VIII Ale House. We were supposed to be in the Party Room downstairs but it was musty smelling, so we moved to the smaller room in the back of the main floor. It worked out OK and the food was good.

$41.75 was collected in voluntary donations. Thank you.
