There were ten people on today's event From High Park to the Harbourfront Taiwanese Festival. As we walked past Grenadier Pond and saw people fishing, someone brought up the large fish die-off there three weeks ago. There was an extensive duck weed bloom at the north end of the pond. I don't know whether this was related to the die-off or not. The Ministry of the Environment and The Ministry of Natural Resources have sent samples of the water and the fish to Guelph University to be tested.

It was cooler by the lake with a nice breeze. We got to Harbourfront in good time, got take-out orders of Taiwan food, and ate while we listened to the Taiwanese symphony. This was excellent. Half way through a "Taiwan native musical group" (Amis Kakeng - thanks Pieway for their name), joined the symphony and the combination was awe-some. They played native instruments and sang in their native language... which sounded similar to First Nations'.

After this performance there was another one of yonger musical artists who sang traditional Taiwan songs. Joanne translated for us (thanks Joanne) and Joanne happens to have a nice voice, too. :)

We walked back to Union Station for an extra hike. $5.00 was collected in donations.
