Write Up:
Fat camp at it's finest. Despite the food bag feeling awfully heavy on the first night, it was a relief to eat it all in the end. There was very little left over.
Though the distances were not too great, the Bruce threw her best at us, with the section between Halfway Log Dump and Storm Haven being only 2km linear distance, yet taking a full hour to walk under load. Christoph provided great inspiration as he operated at the self-described upper limits of what a 41 year old is capable of. We all earned our blisters and good grub in the end.
Unfortunately the weather turned just ahead of our arrival, and summer sleeping bags weren’t quite enough to contain the wind chill while stargazing on the beach. We had our own form of campfire anyway, with much usual and excellent banter from Elliott.
Special thanks go out to, well, everyone really. Monica, Rob, and Elliott each cooked for us a fine meal. Mark demonstrated all his latest high-tech contraptions, yet without knowing you have to actually pump your stove for pressure. Tamara showed the benefits of excellent fitness in all its forms. Christoph showered our ears in German dialogue, and stories of the homeland he claims not to miss.
We all enjoyed the lookouts and fine views of Georgian Bay, sunsets, and clear nights.
