We departed the carpool and headed into the weather. It was a bit wet at first but quickly became a heavy snowfall. We passed several vehicles spun out in the ditch in the latter part of our journey. We arrived at camp and enjoyed a little snack (cookies, cheese, fruit, etc). After a brief sit by the fireplace in the blue room and some jigsaw puzzling we headed out for a midnight hike into the woods. Tales were told of campers and local teenagers past. Numerous animal tracks were seen and after the hike was over a bold 2 went deer tracking until all-hours. The next morning we partook of our cold cereal, hot cereal and scrambled egg breakfast accompanied by some freshly baked bread (sorry no toast). The majority of the group went snowshoeing to the top of Eagle Mountain and then set a new trail down the backside of the mountain looping around the lakeside of it. More tales of campers young and old were told by Erik. After reaching the Dining Hall the group split briefly, some to go tubing and some to get cross country ski gear and a lesson in preparation for the afternoon. We then met up for lunch (burgers! Huge Chocolate Chip Cookies for dessert) and planned the afternoon's activities. After lunch some took an extended journey on skiis on some old logging roads and around a frozen bog and beaver dams. Some of our group continued working on a large puzzle which they completed (picture victory dance in the red room). Saturday evening saw our group participate in a talent show, and retire afterward to a large campfire where there were things to roast or put in their hot-chocolate. Sunday saw our intrepid group have another go at cross country skiing around the camp property and out on the lake (trails maintained by the venue). Snow cones were provided to those at the right place & time. After lunch the various carpools made their way home. Erik hopes to see everyone again (and some new faces) next year!
