Sun, Oct 1 2006 - Pick-your-own Apples at Chudleigh's Farm (View Original Event Details)

The weather, although at times threatening, really cooperated with us on this day and we set off for a fun afternoon of apple picking. Our notion of spending a quiet afternoon in the orchard was shaken a bit by the big crowds piling into Chudleigh's. I guess we weren't the only ones who had the great idea to spend a sunny, warm October day picking apples!! Luckily, the Chudleigh's staff knew what they were doing. We got parked and got in and got picking in a surprisingly short period of time. Melanie was first with her "special" bag for the GoldenCrisp apples! I found the Red Delicious to my liking. Cynthia took some snaps of the beatiful fruit and she and Rob planned a whole slew of outings in the Escarpment Region! Gerry convinced Alan to take a shared trip down memory lane and go for a Pop Shoppe Cream Soda. Somehow it just wasn't the same, although Cynthia reminded us that the LemonLime was really the best Pop Shoppe flavour! Coming home, Alan Melanie and Rob experienced a "Great Race" moment. They thought they had it completely figured out by bolting from the 401 and going up to the 407 because a reported 2-lane shutdown. Expecting to have to wait at Downsview for Gerry and Cynthia, imagine their embarrassment when it turned out they were beaten to the check-point! All in all, despite the crowds, everyone had a pleasant day apple picking. I'm eating a Red Delicious right now (I think it's a Red Delicious! My apples got pretty mixed up!) and it's absolutely divine!
