Sat, Nov 20 2010 - LAST-MINUTE Return to Lynde Shores - EASY nature walk & pita deli visit (View Original Event Details)

Yet again, our group enjoyed our event at Whitby's Lynde Shores and Pita Deli – neither place ever seems to disappoint!
What did we do? Well, first we did a dance of happiness for two members on their VERY FIRST EVENT (okay, it was just me who did a little “dance” in the Downsview Subway Station, but I love it when we have new members join us! Welcome Meg and Delme!!!) ... we checked out the ducks, with their pleasing aerodynamic forms and the mallards' lovely iridescent colours, assigning amusing anthropomorphic agendas (love, jealousy, spite, and infidelity) to their ordinary duck behaviour ... We managed to get photographic evidence of some chickadees eating from our hands ... We saw nuthatches and blue jays (for one of our members, who had grown up in B.C., it was his first blue jay sighting. How cool is that???) ... We absorbed the wonderful smells of pine and of leaves in fall ... We walked to the beach, which was surprisingly “warm” ... Observed the lonely and beautiful sight of a single goose flying across the sky ... Made and renewed acquaintances and friendships ... Devoured delicious pitas stuffed so full they were almost the size of a newborn baby ... And of course throughout, we talked about how awesome the TOC is to bring us together to enjoy this event together.
It was a great day. Thank you thank you to everyone who participated. Your observations, your openness and interest in the people and world around you are what made this event so rewarding for me. Special thanks to Galina and Tracey for being carpool drivers. I hope to see all of you very soon!!!!
