When I set the date for the Tommy Thompson Park walk about two weeks ago, the weather was very good. So naturally I pictured nice weather for the event, lots of sunshine, gentle breeze and mild temperature. But reality sometimes takes people by surprise. Today it was cold, windy, wet and rainy. So when almost all the registrants showed up, by car, on bike, taking the TTC, I knew that I had a very dedicated outdoor group. Sure enough, we set out to explore the man-made peninsula. On the lake side, the normally quiet water turned into a violent sea with HUGE waves crashing against the rocks, forming different layers of color, yellow, green, light blue, deep blue, etc. On the city side, the CN Tower and surrounding rise buildings stand against the gray sky. Stocks of birds were flying around us or on the far side. The scenery was wild and awesome. Stefan who is originally from Greece took many pictures but kept steady pace with the group, composed of Torontonians like Kelly, Lisa, Jeanne, Jo and Bashir, GTA dwellers like Galina and Dan, and our Czech friend Klara. Everyone was happy and energetic. In fact, we beat our set speed and finished the 11 K walk under 2 hours.
