After gathering at the subway station, we walked to the park, laced up our skates, and got moving on the ice.

It was a beautiful day to be skating outside! The weather was mild, and it was sunny and bright.

On a Saturday afternoon, the ice skating rink was full of people of all ages and skating abilities. Some were little kids, just learning to skate (with the help of chairs!), others were teenagers with their friends, and there were lots of adults.

Since our little group also had people of varying skating abilities, we fit right in! For a few, this was the first skating event of the year. Once we were moving on the rink, though, most of us realized that we had never quite figured out how to stop when ice skating. Instead, many of us just slow down gradually or grab onto walls to stop ourselves. (At least no one was grabbing onto people to stop, so we had a good laugh about that.)

We skated in smaller groups of 2 or 3, and chatted as we moved around the ice. Most managed to stay upright, with just a few slips and falls. After skating for a while, the group decided that we had enough exercise, but wanted to continue socializing.

We walked across the street to Dufferin Mall, and bought food and drinks in the food court. After talking and laughing a little while longer, said our farewells, and offered our thanks for a very fun afternoon.
