It was a cold and dark morning when our small but dedicated group of TOCers gathered at Ossington Station. We soon set out to explore Bloor Street and beyond. The appearance of multiple pawn shops and money lending businesses speaks to the decline of stretch right West to Lansdowne. However, the recent expansion of the Bloor/Gladstone library is absolutely gorgeous and I encourage everyone to visit it soon.

From there we headed South and saw how traffic calming measures were implemented on Lansdowne. We agreed that the bicycle ‘sharrows’ do little to inspire confidence amongst cyclists.

Once we hit College it was West to the trail entrance. Trail signage hasn’t been posted yet but, once you know where to look, the entry point is fairly easy to locate.

Walking Northbound on the railpath was an eye-opening experience. Our group got to see old businesses slowly being repurposed into new commercial and residential developments. The trail itself is smoothly paved and looks to be well lit. Once it is fully completed I can definitely see its appeal as a safe, car free, route to downtown.

A flashy fish mural caught our eye and we were soon exploring the wonders of the Osler Street Fish Market. From there it was a brief trip to the Junction neighbourhood to see storefront churches and other unique businesses.
